Jesus Chist On The 4th Of July

This is really a simplification of a larger story/argument/disagreement/stupid attack.
House Majority Whip Roy Blunt and other lawmakers are demanding explanations after hearing complaints that the movie "Facing the Giants" was rated PG instead of G due to religious content.

A PG rating means parental guidance is suggested because the MPAA believes some material may not be suitable for children. A G rating means the MPAA has found the movie acceptable for all audiences.

First off I take exception to the statement "may not be suitable for children". This was a huge mistake on the MPAA's part when they established the ratings system. They probably needed a short blurb, but this one isn't very good.

The operative words are "parental guidance". The fact is the movie contains elements which children need parental guidance to understand or interpret. It shouldn't mean it is not suitable, but not suitable to view without supervision. Or, as was the case with me, PG meant I had to evaluate the movie and decide if I felt my children could handle it without supervision. In other words...parent here. Jeeze.

Now, my advice to Blunt and the others is shut the fuck up. Anything dealing with religion is personal. If you are an evangelical, would you want your young child to view a movie extolling the virtues of Buddhism without your being there to explain your position? My guess is you wouldn't.
