Maybe Its Just Me


This from a story about a speech Gen George W Casey Jr, the top U.S. commander in Iraq was giving to a group of Marines.
Casey said he was consulting with the Iraqi government on means of counteracting the violence. Asked whether that might include putting more U.S. troops in the Baghdad area, Casey replied, "It may, yes."

"We'll make sure there are adequate forces available for the Iraqis to succeed in Baghdad," he added. Rumsfeld said earlier Wednesday that the number of Iraqi and U.S. troops in Baghdad had recently grown from 40,000 to about 55,000. [emphasis mine]

You can read the whole article, but I had to single out the above. After 3 years in Iraq the United States military, most powerful military on the planet, hasn't been capable of securing Baghdad. That's one fucking city, folks. Now that's certainly no way to impress the world with our military might.

Just one more thing to thank Bushco and the neocons for.
