Ambulance drivers go 200 miles afield

Sometimes we rely too much on technology, but these guys just didn't use common sense.
Instead of a short eight-mile drive, the ambulance took a 200-mile detour through the suburbs of Manchester before the drivers realized the satellite navigation system wasn't working[.]

I worked with a genius for a while. He really was. Anyway, he would take out his pocket calculator to double check computer output such as spreadsheets. It was surprising how often he found errors in formulas because he didn't believe the details justified the totals. Others just accepted the computer's output.
