Its always the Republicans' first salvo, but it's not unknown to Democrats too.

Politicians are much like children. To wit: "No mommy, I didn't take any cookies". To be honest and forthright immediately just isn't in their nature. Nor mine for that matter. "No, honey, I didn't stop for a drink. I smell of alcohol because of Fred". Hahaha. Maybe they aren't so bad.
