Has The World Gone Mad?
I'm sure I could come up with many more examples, but these should make the case:
Tamil Tiger leader says ceasefire agreement is defunct
Gunmen open fire on crowded Baghdad street
Army to face attacks prior to Basra handover
Last-ditch EU-Turkey talks over Cyprus fail
Fiji coup concerns grow
Schools in restive S Thailand to close indefinitely
Very Rich Are Leaving the Merely Rich Behind
Britons sent for radioactive tests after ex-spy's death
Enough already. Please send in the adults.

What is it about today's society seem so mad?
Was George Orwell right in essentially predicting the current situation?
As I read your post today I couldn't help thinking that he had it in a nutshell.
We have allowed one person (or perhaps a triumvirate) to present the USA to the rest of the world as nothing more than another czarist regime.
Perhaps GWB should be re-named George the Terrifying!
Orwell was prescient. He nailed it.
Perhaps George the Hun is not too far wrong. He has the morals and ambitions of Attila.
