Cost to make a U.S. penny more than a penny

In my humble opinion and operating with a diseased mind (thank God not contagious), this strikes me as the epitome of a no brainer.

Surging prices for copper, zinc and nickel have some in the U.S. Congress advocating the steel-made pennies of World War II because it costs more than a penny to make one and a nickel costs 7.7 cents.

Just do away with pennies completely. We can round off to the nearest 5¢ or 10¢ and eliminate the nickels too. Hell, the dollar is the new penny anyway.
