Flag Burning Nonsense

KAYINMAINE over at WHITE NOISE INSANITY has a good post about flag burning. She actually encourages it.

A snippet:
What? We can put a cigarette out on it and we can let it get tired, worn, faded and beaten but we can't burn it? F**k you. I say......burn the flag and burn it often! Our republic is tattered, so let's reflect that mood. Amen.

Personally I won't do it. There're many other ways to make your point, but in a free country like we used to have it is freedom of speech to my mind.

Something I've been meaning to comment on. If you're country is honorable, ethical and strong and your flag represents your country, what does it say about your country if you believe burning its flag can have any affect on its strengths and values?

The flag gets shot to shreds in war. It does hang on front porches until it is faded and nothing but strips. Does that mean it's any less important? Hell no. The American flag can take anything thrown at it. We should be proud of that and not be afraid. Of course, Bushco wants you afraid so play into his hands if you want to.

Not me. Burn the flag all you want. That won't kill the American ideals or spirit. We have Bushco to do that.
