Secret memo said to prove Israel knew occupation was illegal

Now this is something I doubt will get much attention from the MSM unless someone can find a way to discredit it. Which should prove rather difficult considering the guy who wrote the memo is still alive and says he still believes what he wrote.
A secret memo proves that the Israeli government knew that its occupation of Palestinian land was illegal after it won the Six Day War in 1967, a British newspaper reported Saturday.

Theodor Meron, who wrote the memo as the Israeli foreign ministry's legal advisor at the time, said "I believe I would have given the same opinion today," according to The Independent newspaper.

With Israel now celebrating the 40th anniversary of the war, the 76-year-old Meron, who went on to become a leading international jurist, challenges Israel's long-held argument that settlements do not violate international law.

Another fine post by Christopher. He's in Lebanon and even being there its difficult to sort out all that's happening. One thing is very clear. Little if anything happening there is good.
TRIPOLI — What the heck is going on up here? That seems to be the big question at the moment. Last night around 9 p.m., fighting started up again between the Lebanese army and Fatah al-Islam. This prompted speculation that the push against the jihadi group had come, and I raced back up to Tripoli from my spot of being stuck in a checkpoint just outside Beirut. (The capital is locked down after three bombs this week, so security is tight.)

I blame Clinton

And so does Rudy. Hahaha. Such humor.
In an appearance on the “Late Show with David Letterman” ...Rudolph W. Giuliani said he believes America might have gone to war in Iraq even if George W. Bush had not been President....

He continued: “It was the policy of the Clinton administration to have a regime change in Iraq, so in a way, George Bush carried out what Bill Clinton wanted to do and didn’t get the opportunity to do. So who knows.”

Just how many years will it take before Bill isn't blamed for everything wrong in the world? I doubt I'll live to see the end of it.

Stolen entirely from Ted Compton.

Must read IMHO

Its a must read because its one of my best posts if I do admit my lack of humility.

Motorists pulled in to Harvey Pollack's gas station Thursday, honked and gave him a thumbs-up — because he wasn't selling any fuel.

The owner of Towne Market Mobil in this suburb north of Milwaukee shut down his pumps for 24 hours, hoping to start a movement aimed at persuading oil companies to lower their prices.

"Somebody out there is making money at these prices, but not me," said Pollack, 57. "So I just thought: What can I do to help the consumer?"

Yellow caution tape surrounded Pollack's six idle pumps for his protest, which drew dozens of drivers. One in a green minivan rolled down her window and shouted "Thank you!"

Why do I post about Harvey Pollack?

Because America is still about "We the People". Harvey's a little guy. He needs the income from his service station to pay the rent/mortgage, feed his family and buy medicine. Twenty-four hours without income is a huge fucking deal to this guy. He doesn't have a $24 million per year income. He lives hand-to-mouth.

You can do what Harvey has done. You can keep feeding the corrupt corporate beasts or you can take a stand too. You can continue to buy from the monsters who cheat you on a daily basis or you can choose not too. You can continue to suck up hundreds of gallons of gasoline in your SUV daily or not. You can reward the pirates or you can refuse to.

Its all up to you.

My soapbox is now available to anyone who wants it.

The meek shall inherit the earth

Well, it looks like the Dems have a lock on that.
In grudging concessions to President Bush, Democrats intend to draft an Iraq war-funding bill without a timeline for the withdrawal of U.S. troops and shorn of billions of dollars in spending on domestic programs, officials said Monday.

Time to send Chevron back into Iraq

Just when everything was looking so good.
The new draft oil law has sparked heated controversy in Iraqi political circles, with some parliamentarians ruling out the possibility of passing it in its current wording which stipulates that oil revenues should be distributed according to the population of the Iraqi provinces. "The distribution of Iraq's oil wealth is a point of dispute that prevents the passing of the bill," MP Bassim Sharif from the Fadhila Islamic Party told the independent news agency Voices of Iraq (VOI).

This may be a smokescreen around their true intent to keep control of the oil out of the hands of American companies, but we won't know for a while.

Anonymous Liberal serves up proof AG Gonzales is a liar. Who knew?

Over at Anything They Say there's a post about how our born-with-silver-spoon-in-the-mouth idiot in chief wants to lift the teaming hordes out of poverty. Ouch! The pain in my side from laughing is too acute.

At Bad Attitudes we find the kids are alright, but we ain't.

Big Shot Bob points out the necessity of getting big bucks to contract in Iraq. And a good life insurance plan is probably not a bad idea.

Jonco has an interesting/tragic tale of an African and an elephant. I apologize for my sick sense of humor.

Sorry, but another from Jonco.

Water Tiger points out George has even angered Jimmy Carter. JIMMY CARTER! Now that takes talent.

And for demented sex stuff I have to direct you to Hullabaloo. Although I wouldn't go there if I were you.

Eli gets all geeky for you. OK, I admit I liked the post. So whadda ya gonna do about it? No! Not a wedgie.

And I'd be remiss if I didn't direct you to Avedon Carol's Sideshow. Hahaha.

Need money? Marry Rudy. Sweet deal.

Heliocentrism? Hahaha. Ya gotta be shitting me. Truth is, this one kills.

One final entry because I'm just running out of steam. From CENTCOM. CENTCOM always seems to see the brighter side of things. Go figure.
